Special Session: Military Medicine and Surgery in Austere Environments
The 46th Annual Meeting of the Surgical Infection Society will feature a special session on Military Medicine and Surgery in Austere Environments, built around the Stanford and Louise Blake Lectureship. We encourage abstracts addressing combat casualty care, surgical infection, trauma, wound management, prolonged field care, and innovations in resource-limited settings.
Deadline
The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, December 1, 2026, 11:59pm EST. Submission of an abstract implies that the authors intend to present the abstract during the assigned oral or mini oral session of the 46th Annual Meeting of the Surgical Infection Society. Scientific sessions will not conclude until 5:30 p.m., April 7, 2027. Presenters will need to be available until that time, and should not make travel plans requiring an earlier departure from the meeting.
All submissions will be evaluated by the Program Committee. Please refer to the submission timeline below for important dates.

Oct.1 – Abstract submissions open
Dec. 1 – Abstract submissions close
Dec. 2 – Program Committee review period begins
Dec. 11 – Program Committee review period ends
Dec. 18 – Abstracts are slotted
Dec. 21 – Acceptance/Decline notices are sent to submitters
Jan. 5 – Program is published for attendees/Registration opens
